On Saturday, August 17, at 10:45 a.m., a Mt. Crested Butte police officer was dispatched to 215 Gothic Rd. in Mt. Crested Butte for the report of a deceased person. Upon arrival, the officer observed the body a young female lying on the bed in a bedroom.
A Crested Butte Fire Protection District EMT, already on scene, confirmed no heart rhythm. The female, identified as 27-year-old Lydia Rigby, was confirmed dead by a doctor over the phone.
This death is currently under investigation pending a coroner’s autopsy report and is a suspected accidental overdose resulting from use of inhalants. Rigby was apparently alone at the time of her death.
