Sherwood resigns as MCBPAC director

Effective June 30

The Mt. Crested Butte Performing Arts Center board of directors announced a change in leadership last week with the resignation of executive director Woody Sherwood.

“MCBPAC announces the resignation of Woody Sherwood as its Executive Director effective June 30, 2014.  We shall greatly miss him, and we are most appreciative of all of his efforts on our behalf,” MCBPAC board president Tom Seymour said in a statement. “When Woody joined us originally, the notion was that he would take us through the stage of making the project a reality.  Now that the Biery-Witt Center is a reality, as reflected by the selection of the design team and the letting of initial contracts in preparation for construction, the Biery-Witt Center has entered a new phase.  The Biery-Witt Center’s needs have swung from the entrepreneurial expertise Woody has so ably provided, to particularized skills for specific tasks, including the operational functionality, the bookings and the actual operations of the facility.
“Woody, fortunately, remains a vital part of the greater Crested Butte community, as he has for so many years.  Woody started work on the Biery-Witt Center concept many years ago, and that background has been of great help in our reaching the stage we have,” Seymour continued. “Given all of the hurdles which have needed to be overcome, it is truly remarkable that the Biery-Witt Center project has a value of almost $18 million, with a goal of $23.5 million.”
Sherwood took over for Kathleen Curry as the MCBPAC executive director in January 2012.
